Health Systems Research & Development

Health Systems Research and Development is a research and data unit located within the ECU Department of Public Health.  Health Systems Research and Development provides research and data analysis related to health, with a particular focus on eastern North Carolina.  Health Systems Research and Development maintains numerous databases and serves as a clearinghouse for data on vital statistics, demographics, health resources, and other areas of interest to community members, health service administrators, policy analysts, public health faculty, students, and health services researchers.  Health Systems Research and Development created and maintains the North Carolina Health Data Explorer, which provides access to health data for North Carolina counties in a web based, interactive, user friendly atlas of maps, tables, and charts.  Other tools and resources on our web page include the Health Indicators, an annual series of reports that describe 30 year trends in mortality rates for North Carolina regions and a series of periodic reports on the Behavioral Risk Factor Surveillance System for eastern North Carolina.  Please contact us directly with any questions or requests for additional information on health in eastern North Carolina.
